Palm kernel has 20% water content in it which needs to be reduced to get the oil of desired quality. It is dried until the moisture level becomes 7%. Now comes one of the most important steps. In this step, the crushed palm kernel is cooked in the steam. This pretreatment softens it and makes it ready for the palm kernel oil extraction process.

Crushed and cooked palm kernel has all the oil gathered in it in a less viscous state. It is pressed with a great force which removes the excessive kernel oil from the kernel. The oil extracted in the above step has impurities in it. To make it able to be used in cooking or cosmetics, all these impurities have to be eliminated thoroughly. So, a filter is used to separate impurities from the oil.
